Obersulzbachtal valley
At the entrance to Obersulzbachtal valley you will find the "Gamseckfall"-fall (height 300m). Looking from the Salzachtal towards the south of the valley you can see the "Großer Geiger" mountain (3360m). In the vernacular called "Obersulbacher Venediger" (Venediger of Obersulzbachtal). The white of the distant glacier dominates your walk through the valley. Between Obersulzbachtoerl and Untersulzbachtoerl the famous Venediger mountain is located. Here you can climb the hightest mountain of the Nationalpark with 3674m.
If you want to climb Grossvenediger mountain you walk through Obersulzbachtal. Here, at the north side, in 1842 the Kuersinger Huette (mountain hut) has been built and been constantly extended.
The "Berndlalm", a mountain pasture is the remains of an old lake ground – the powerful Sulzbach (moutain torrent) has digged itself into the ground and flows as a fall in a gorge deep. Berndlalm is a popular resting place where you can eat and drink.
On a height of 1700m you reach the Postalm – the perfect advent to reach Schlieferspitz mountain with 3289m. Around Postalm the forest contains mainly of spruce up to 30m height and an age of 200 years.

Untersulzbachtal valley
Untersulzbachtal valley and Obersulzbachtal valley are separated through the steep Sulzbachklamm (gorge). Having reached the first plateau you will be able to see the gorge. It is well known for its water fall and mining.
Untersulzbachtal valley is also famous for the "Knappenwand", a site where epidot crystalls can be found. Around 1870 stone miners from all over the world where attracted to try their luck. The site where a local shoemaker found a "crystal palace" had been reported worldwide. Inside the mountain he found a cave covered with crystalls. The largest pure epidot crystall had a size of 70 cm. One of the crystalls of that finding can be seen at the Naturhistorischen Museum in Vienna.
Around "Bergkopf" (Abichalm) it was possible to find blue aquamarine. Against south you see "Stockeralm" where farmers produce their own "Enzian" schnapps. At the end of the valley you see the Unterszulbachkees glacier, which has been shrinked lots. In Untersulzbachtal valley you also find one of the last fir tree forests with "Starktannen" (fir) with an height of 35m and 100 years age.
